Looking for cheap plane tickets? Finding them can be really difficult unless you’re quick and know where to find them. We’ve all heard stories about Australian airlines offering tickets for $1 but they’re always sold out within minutes leaving us feel cheated! They advertise the cheap tickets on the TV, the radio and in newspapers and yet buying them is almost impossible! How do you secure cheap plane tickets then? Read on and I’ll show you how.

There is a saying that unless you ask, you won’t receive and this is also true for purchasing airline tickets. To put it bluntly, paying retail prices on airfare is for suckers. By doing a little research and taking the time to shop around, you’ll save a bundle.

The first step is to compare the prices on the airlines website. Write down the various prices and then visit some online travel agents. Take note of their prices and work out which one is cheapest. Once you’ve done that, call the airline and let them know you want to book a ticket with them but they’re more expensive than a competitor. If they won’t beat the price, they’ll often match it but this isn’t good enough! Look for some type of bonus such as extra frequent flyer points or something. The power is in the hands of the buyer these days due to the global economic crisis; we now expect much more for our money than ever before.
